19th Century Profusely Carved Oak Hall or Side Table with Pediment

Victorian craftsmanship at its finest...study the detail for a moment to appreciate the quality. When you consider the level of work gone into this larger than normal piece, you would have to wonder why you would buy a modern mass-produced piece of furniture. Take a look at the two front legs closely, the legs have the most amazing faces carved in at the hip, a grand gentleman with exquisite facial features, a finely trimmed moustache, bearded and prominent nose. The carvings from the apron/skirt, flow down the legs with the tiniest detail. Couldn't imagine the length of time this took to finish. The table is crowned with a pitched, carved pediment to continue the detail. While the right-hand side has a long hidden carved fronted working drawer, with a scalloped finger recess to allow you to pull the drawer open. The detailed carvings created on this table are stunning, ideal as a hall table or serving table. A real conversational piece of furniture from the mid to late 19th century.
