We often hunt the country from our Scottish location, but routinely search from Lancashire and Yorkshire as well as buying trips further afield to supply items online. We also like to take on items that particularly interest us from earlier periods, dependent on our fascination for an object. Mason Hunter (1854-1921) the Scottish impressionist painter Scottish artist. - RSW, 1889 Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour, - Arsa, 19.03.1913 (Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy) 'The Shore' scene at Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, beautifully painted with a well established impressionist technique this is a painting of great quality. Oil on board and signed lower right (Mason Hunter, '83"). Circa 1883, based on other marine and seascape works of the Aberdeenshire coast in the late 19th Century. Born in Broxburn, Linlithgowshire, Mason Hunter studied at the Edinburgh School of Design and later in Paris and at Barbizon. He painted seascapes and coastal views in watercolour and oil. Exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1889, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour.

Please consider the photographs and description as a great record of the condition of this antique item. The painting and frame are in good condition at over circa 120 years of age. Some small marks to the outer edge / side of the frame, but nothing that detracts from the atmospheric feel of this coastal scene in an impressionistic style from the late 19th Century.
