A Superb 4 Piece Victorian Silver Tea Set by Edward Barnard & Sons
A fabulous quality four piece silver tea service, dating from the last year of Queen Victoria's reign. This fantastic set comprises a matching full size teapot, coffee/ hot water pot, sugar bowl and cream jug. The quality is evident, with the set being made by the renowned Edward Barnard & Sons and being of excellent gauge silver. Each piece stands on a raised base - stepped to the pot, with the handles being of carved Walnut and the knops of silver. The bodies are extensively decorated with delightful repoussé work featuring vacant cartouches to all. Each piece has a gadroon rim, along with cast shells and masks and the tea pot is finished with attractive floral and acanthus leaf motifs to the spout. The lid to the coffee/ hot water pot is fitted with a concealed flush hinge and the sugar bowl and milk jug have lightly gilt interiors, all showcasing the quality of this set. An amazing four piece, that would grace any table. As usable today, as the day it was made.
