Alfred Cox retailed in the top department stores including Heal’s and the simple sleek design and the use of the right timber makes this one shine. The attention to detail is wonderful. So often makers use substandard timber on the sides, however this chest possesses a stunning grain to the walnut on both sides. The graduated drawers are a perfect fit in a lighter shade of walnut and sit neatly perched on well angled legs. All the solid brass period handles to the drawers are in situ - trumpet shaped to the top and lovely shaped ones to the lower 4 drawers. The drawers are running as they should and the frame is firm. We have ensured the piece is clean, tidy and ready to place. Having spent a session in our workshop it's glowing well with a few age dings but nothing nasty. Perfect for so many spaces in the home, C.1960 with makers badge and label in the top drawer.
