An Antique 19th Century Large Brass Inri Altar Cross, Church

Here is a lovely large 19th century brass altar cross, with a detailed corpus of Christ. It has an added banner plaque with the cast and textured lettering “Inri” translating as Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex IvdÆOrvm (Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum), which in English translates to "Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews" (John 19:19). The cross stands upon an integral pillar base, with two flat rings below and then a square base with four bun feet. The cross measures about 24 inches (61 cm) in height, by about 11.24 inches (29.3 cm) in width. The item is in sound and complete, but unpolished condition. This makes a fantastic statement piece and would be perfect for a church or chapel conversion, or to add to a collection of religious themed antiques.
