Description
Andreas Gyula Bubarnik (Hungarian 1936-2010) Still Life of ham, lemon, silver wine jug, and wine glass, oil on panel, signed lower left, mounted in a gilt moulded composition frame.
We rate this artist extremely highly, as good as or even better than many of the 17th Dutch still life painters of the “Golden Age” who were his inspiration. The immensely high degree of realism has been achieved by other artists but few have come anywhere near Bubarnik’s ability to create depth through perspective and light. If art is ever again judged first on technique and composition and not “concept” (plus self-promotion and hype) then Bubarnik is likely to become rightly recognised as a master. His work has become highly collected and we feel sure will prove an excellent investment.
Biography: Andreas Gyula Bubarnik was born in 1936 in a small town close to Budapest in Hungary and raised on his family farm. Through following his interest in art history and techniques he developed an exceptional realist style. Never indulging in self-promotion, little is known about the artist. He has allowed his work to speak for itself.
Lefays has clarified that the Andreas Gyula Bubarnik (Hungarian) Still Life Oil on Panel (LA484418) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1970
