Antique 18th Century / 19th Century Baleen "Hoof" Pipe Tamper - English 1790-1820

An unusual late 18th Century / early 19th Century (1780-1820) English Sailor's pipe tamper...the centre part being made from baleen (the filtering part of the inside of a baleen whale''s mouth) and the horse''s hoof complete with white metal tacks, being made of carved coquilla nut....it is finished off with white metal mounts....in excellent condition.
