Description
This intriguing 19th-century chest of drawers, crafted from rich mahogany, is a truly unique piece with a fascinating history.
Standing on elegant splay feet, it features five drawers in total, arranged as two small drawers over three larger ones. Each drawer is fitted with its original white porcelain handles, complementing the chest’s refined and classic design.
The piece showcases the stunning grain and superb colour of the mahogany throughout, making it a visually striking addition to any room. The chest is of excellent quality and remains in overall good condition, despite one very unusual feature—subtle burn marks around the edges of the top. These marks suggest that the chest has, at some point in its history, been in contact with some form of fire. This adds an intriguing layer to its story, making it a piece with a long and mysterious past.
The burn marks have been professionally preserved and restored, with no structural issues or unwanted smells, allowing the chest to maintain its integrity and functionality.
This chest of drawers offers not only storage but also a unique conversation piece, combining exceptional craftsmanship, history, and character.
