Antique Arts & Crafts Hand Wrought Copper Bowl by Dryad of Leicester c.1915

This is a nice quality, handmade copper bowl, made in the early years of the 20th century, by Dryad Metalworks of Leicester. Made with an all over hammered finish, left there deliberately by the craftsman to show how the piece was formed and shaped from a single piece of copper. The rim has an applied copper rope twist border, and the base are 3 brass ball feet. The underside of the base has the usual ‘Dryad Lester’ mark, and a number 30, which would be the pattern number. Dryad was originally set up as a cane furniture manufacturer in 1907, but by 1912 it became the Dryad Metal Works, and then Dryad Handicrafts in 1918. This example was likely made around the time of the First World War. A lovely display piece.
