This cosmopolitan edition is published in the original French, by London-based Mudie's Select Library and printed in Germany. The author's full name is Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu. In lightly worn, antique condition - some coloration to the spine but pleasingly intact. Bound in fabric, presenting a wonderful foliate pattern with gilt tooled title, graced with an eye-catching, gilt finished fleur-de-lys inside cover lining. Printed in French across 223 pages and pencil annotated throughout by a former reader. Illustrated frontispiece with an 18th century medal bearing the cameo of the author.
