Description
This is an antique cased copy of Hillingdon Hall or The Cockney Squire. An English language novel published in the Victorian era, this edition dated 1888. Originally written in 1845, Hillingdon Hall is a satirical account of a local grocer and his ire at the upper class fox hunting set. Written by Robert Smith Surtees (1805 - 1864) an editor, novelist and sports writer. His comic leanings and distinctive characters lead to William Morris considering him on par with Dickens. Presented in a time-worn antique condition - intact with some minor edge fraying. Hard bound in a claret red cotton with gilt title and illustration. Replete with later, reproduction carry case bearing gilt titling. Colourful engravings accentuate throughout the novel with jovial scenes. List of the publisher's new releases for Spring 1888 to rear. Covers 519 pages with 24 pages of publisher's catalogue. This is a charming antique copy of Hillingdon Hall or The Cockney Squire, with a later protective case. A charming novel from a well regarded mid 19th century write. Delivered ready to enjoy. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques. Please contact us if you require any further information - we are here to help. Our Ref: 18.9730
