Antique Carved German Linen Chest of Drawers with Fall Fronts, S.Kronthal & Sons

This is an unusual antique carved oak linen chest dating to the late 19th century. Made from solid oak, pine and veneers the chest is very heavy and well made with three fall front drawers to the front set over an open display shelf to the bottom. The drawers feature beautiful carvings, decorative drop handles and internal button catches which release the drawer fronts, letting them drop open for ease of access. The top has a deep overhang and would have once had a decorative back plate, lost somewhere in time long ago. The chest is set on small turned feet and to the back of the chest are two paper labels, one with full details of the original makers or supplier written in German.
