Antique Cigar Humidor, Continental, Ebonised, Petit Corona Case - Victorian c.1860

This is an antique cigar humidor. A Continental, ebonised mahogany and gilt metal Petit Corona case, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860. Beguiling humidor, with a profusion of intricate brightwork that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Superb ebonised stocks presenting a deep, lustrous finish. Quality gilt metal presents ebullient golden tones throughout. Classical motif adorns the exterior, with a surmount Cherub gracing the cutter compartment. Accessed by a small sliding clasp, the cutter compartment measuring an inch deep. Ornate pierced fretwork escutcheon to the fascia with inset lock — key present. Corners further accentuated with profuse scroll and beaded mounts. Opening the lid released the pair of front doors to reveal the humidor trays. Interior hosts six trays - crafted to carry 12 Petit Corona sized cigars each, for a total of 72. Each recess hosts a Petit Corona with the length of 13cm and width across at 17mm.
