This is an antique correspondence box. An English, leather bound writing case, dating to he late Victorian period, circa 1890. Graced with a suite of features and appealing dark finish that displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order. Bound throughout in deep black leather with a lightly weathered appearance. Brass fittings throughout present warm golden hues. Recessed carry handle adorns the lid, personalised with the name Evelyn. Dressed with a circular escutcheon and Bramah lock — untested, key absent. Opening to reveal a storage tray, hosting the folio writing skiver. The skiver in bright navy blue accentuated with gold tooling. Deep purple leather to the reverse adds a touch of colour. Retained by rotating clasps, a blotter opens outwards from the lid interior. Lidded compartment conceals accessories and situates a charming ink well.
