Description
This is an antique decorative truncheon. A Scottish, beech Edinburgh police baton with hand-painted detail, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850.
Fascinating decorative truncheon, likely carried by a sergeant that displays a desirable aged patina with lightly time worn appearance. Ebonised beech, with natural colour to the tactile ring turned handle. Delightful hand-painted detail with the Edinburgh Coat of Arms. Coat of Arms bears the Latin phrase Nisi Dominus Frustra - without the Lord, we act in vain. Also accentuated with the district number in addition to the Victoria Regina cypher.
This is a superb antique decorative truncheon, a well used and pleasingly hand-painted memento of the Edinburgh police service in the Victorian period. Delivered ready to display.
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques.
