Description
A fine example of a mid 19th Century ''pocket'' screw type nutcracker, made out of fruitwood and oak.... it is in very good condition with a superb colour.... these collectable little nutcrackers were kept in your pocket, as you went on your country rambles, ready for use when you came across cobb nuts / hazelnuts in the hedgerows and woods.... several of these nutcrackers show teeth marks on the handle from previous owners trying to crack nuts by tightening the handle with their teeth, to get extra pressure, but I''m sure it didn''t do their teeth any good...! English 1840-1860. Provenance of the Brian Hawtin collection. Payment can be made by Bank Transfer , all you will need are my Bank Details, which I will send you or off line by Credit / Debit card..... e-mail or telephone your card details (long card number, expiry date and three security digits on the reverse of the card) through to me and I will do the rest. Please quote the Internal Reference Number to identify the item you are enquiring about....thank you.
