Description
Exceptional, rare antique Edwardian English sterling silver dressing cheval table mirror and jewellery box; an addition to the ornamental silverware collection.
This exceptional and rare antique sterling silver jewellery box with mirror has a rectangular shaped form.
The surface of this Edwardian silver jewellery box is plain and unembellished.
The drawer to the anterior portion of the box parallels the shape of the body, opening to reveal the original cedar wood and velvet lined interior.
The box is surmounted with an impressive scrolling frame supporting an oval mirror; the revolving mirror is secured to the frame with silver screw fittings at either side.
The plain sterling silver mount to the cheval mirror features a conical finial to the upper portion.
This *cheval mirror retains the original bevelled glass.
This impressive Edwardian silver jewellery box with mirror is supported by four iconic Art Deco tiered bracket feet.
Such examples, with the original conjoined components, are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
*Cheval mirror - A mirror mounted and to swivel within a frame. Cheval is derived from the French word 'horse', hence a support or frame.
