This is an antique gentleman's drawing room armchair. An English, mahogany elbow chair in Chippendale taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Presents wonderful Chippendale taste with an eye-catching back rest that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select stocks show fine grain interest with warm caramel hues. Benefits from a quality, professional reupholstering in tasteful green leather.
Enthusiastically carved throughout, the lyre back and top rail profuse with detail. Serpentine arms terminate in scrolled knuckles, and skilfully accentuated with relief carving. Forward canted arm supports adorned with scrolled leaf motif.
Traditionally stuffed cushion sits at a comfortable height of 47.5cm (18.75''). Tastefully accentuated with brass press stud finish across the shaped apron line. Square section front legs with gently canted legs to the rear, united with stretcher rails.
