This exceptional and rare antique George V sterling silver and glass stamp box has been realistically modelled in the form of a book.
The glass body of the box is embellished with moulded decoration replicating the details of the book's pages and ribbed spine.
This exceptional box is fitted with a hallmarked mount to the rim and a hinged cover, ornamented with the elucidating engraving 'Stamps'.
The upper plateau of the cover is further ornamented with engraved details, reproducing the book's decoration.
This antique silver box opens to reveal two stamp compartments, moulded within the glass body.
The interior of the cover bears the retailer's mark 'A & J Smith, Aberdeen'.
This exceptional box is a large example for its type.
