Description
Magnificent, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver epergne/centrepiece; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This magnificent antique George V sterling silver centrepiece has a circular panelled form onto a swept panelled pedestal and plain circular base. The main central circular receiver is plain and unembellished, supported by a panelled waisted pedestal. This antique silver epergne/centrepiece is fitted with six sterling silver arms; the receivers to three terminals are circular and the others are octagonal. Each arm is embellished with impressive opposing scroll ornamentation in addition to a large spiralling terminal in junction with the central column. The main holder and each of the three circular receivers retain the original hallmarked circular panelled dishes; the central dish is larger than the supporting three. These antique dishes are encompassed with an impressive pierced decorated border accented with scrolling leaf and lobed designs, all below a plain applied paralleling moulded border to the rim. Each of the three panelled receivers accommodates a plain octagonal panelled tapering flute, ornamented with identical pierced decoration to that of the dishes. The flutes are further ornamented with drop style finials. This magnificent example of antique silverware has a wide spread across the arms and would make a very impressive and imposing table centrepiece. Maker: Fattorini & Sons Ltd Origin: Sheffield, England
