Antique Georgian Period Mahogany Writing / Side Table

A smart and very interesting antique Georgian period mahogany writing / side table. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1790-1810 period. It is of very fine quality, the rectangular mahogany top has an inset leather writing surface, it stands on beautifully tapered legs terminating in brass casters. There is a single drawer with brass handles on one side, with a dummy drawer on reverse; this looks identical on both sides. It is a useful size to be used as a small desk or as an occasional side table. We have had this re-polished, the condition is very good for its age. There is plenty of character and various signs of old wear remaining beneath the polish, commensurate for age. The leather top is very old and may even be original, it shows plenty of patina and charm, it has been revived by our leather restorer.
