This is an antique Kutani tea service. A Japanese, porcelain 6 person teapot and cups set, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Superb Japanese tea service, with delicate craftsmanship and decorative finish. Presenting a desirable aged patina and in good, original order. Tactile eggshell porcelain with translucence when held up to light. Each piece decorated with a landscape scene of a river at the foot of Mount Fuji.
Comprising 22 pieces in total, offering a tea and cake service for six. Teapot and milk jug crafted in a similar manner, with finial topped dome lids. Set of 6 cups and saucers joined by 6 serving plates and two generous cake plates. Red character marks to base of each plate and cup.
