Description
This is a handsome large antique leather portmanteau suitcase dating to the early 20th century.
The case is fairly large and was once used as a piece of luggage by a military officer with the name J.M Blenkinsop, the top bears his initials.
The case has a deep expanding lid which is fitted with brass latches, one has been damaged so is no longer functioning. The lid opens to reveal a fabric lined interior with a storage compartment to the lid which is held in place with leather straps.

condition
condition
Generally in good structural condition with many marks of age and use giving it a well travelled look. The case is missing its leather outer straps, the handle is well aged and cracked and one of the brass latches has been damaged so won't lock shut.
Internally there are some marks of age and use and one of the leather straps is missing the toggle to hold it closed.
The case may be best suited to use as a prop or could be restored by a leather specialist if you wish to use it as a piece of luggage.
