Description
Superb set of five Lobmeyr crystal “Drinking set number 54” small wine/port/Sherry glasses that are decorated all over with a combination of hand engraved scrolls, leaves, swags, flowers and birds with cut dot accents to such a high level of craftsmanship that even the feathers on the tiny birds are visible. The stems are facet cut with a ball knop near the bottom of the bowl of the glass and the foot is decorated in the same manner. I am unsure of the date of these particular glasses but the design was first used in 1855 and was exhibited by Lobmeyr at the 1862 World Fair in London simply entitled “Drinking set 54”. This pattern was first introduced in 1855 and later exhibited by Lobmeyr at the 1862 World Fair in London. These glasses are unsigned and my guess is that they were made in the mid 1850s. All five glasses are in excellent undamaged condition and measure (allowing for slight variations in hand made antique glass.
