Description
This is a handsome antique book cabinet which dates to the early 20th century.
It is an elegant and substantial piece which could serve a variety of purposes, offering useful storage and display space for any room.
The cabinet is well made from mahogany and veneers and is solid and heavy, with the benefit of splitting into two parts for easy transportation.
The base section has two lockable doors which are finished with brass handles, the doors open to reveal two removable shelves.
The top section is glazed and is also lockable, the interior split into two sections which each house three adjustable wooden shelves.
The wood has its original French Polished finish which is in good condition for its age.
Condition
The book cabinet is in solid structural condition with various minor cosmetic marks of age and use.
The top has some very minor damage to the beading which I have photographed.
The bottom of the top section sits slightly wider than the base section at the sides, we aren't really sure why this is but when w
e purchased it the previous owner had been using the top section the other way around, i.e upside down.
