Description
A fantastic antique mahogany Georgian period tambour top desk. This was made in England, we would date it from around the 1790-1810 period. The quality is superb, this is beautifully styled and elegant. It stands on tapered legs with two drawers beneath the cylindrical tambour top and pierced fretwork beneath each corner. The drawers have nicely cross banded edges, there are brass handles on the drawers and on the tambour section. The tambour rolls back smoothly to reveal a nicely fitted out workspace with a tooled leather writing surface, pigeon hole storage and slim internal drawers. We have had this re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. There is just some minor wear and patina remaining beneath the polish, commensurate for age. Width – 41 inches , 103 cm Depth – 27 inches , 69 cm Height – 42 inches , 107 cm Desk height – 30 inches , 76 cm Knee height – 23 inches , 59 cm
