This is an antique morning room elbow chair. A Scottish, carved oak throne seat in Gothic revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Broad and generous form to this country house chair that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select Scottish oak presents fine grain interest throughout. Dark caramel hues adorn the deep timber frame.
Relief carving accentuates the top rail with a grapevine shield to the centre. Upholstered back rest framed by relief patterns to the outside. Professionally reupholstered in a vibrant claret red velvet and press stud trim.
Traditionally stuffed cushion set at a comfortable height of 46.5cm (18.25''). Thick, shaped arms sit upon serpentine front supports. Fascinating lion head masks grace each knuckle of the arms.
