Description
We are delighted to offer this stunning antique guilloché enamel pendant made by the prominent Norwegian maker Marius Hammer of Bergen, c.1900. As expected with Hammer's wares, the quality of the silver mount, engine turning and enamelling is absolutely wonderful. The guilloche work is very fine and tightly done with beautiful sunburst accents and an almost floral overall circular pattern. The enamel features an alluring light blue tone that is immediately captivating to the eye. The enamel remains in excellent order with no damage despite its age; what could possibly be better than a perfect enamel surface? Two! Astonishingly, even with its ergonomic slimness, this pendant not only has a front side but is equally embellished on the other side as it forms a locket with two glass frame holders on the interior. Such a fine mechanism and embellishment on both sides are a testament to Hammer's craftsmanship and intricacy - truly a 'no cost cut' creation and a splendid object of vertu that also happens to be wearable. Owing to its stylish colour and paired chain (the photographed silver chain is also included), we believe this locket pendant serves as a wonderful necklace to wear, whether to carry sentimental value or as a magnificent piece of antique jewellery, bound to be a conversation starter and a distinguished way to express your passion of fine antiques. Overall, a stunning piece of enamelware ideal for lovers of antiques with unique character and reflective qualities. It may just be the perfect gift for someone special for an occasion or as an indulgent present to yourself. The pendant is marked on the bail with Marius Hammer's maker's mark "Mh" and "930s" for the silver standard (just a touch above sterling 925). All of our jewellery comes with a complimentary hard shell gift box with a velvet interior. We aim to overemphasize and state these issues (if any) to avoid disappointment and thus please rest assured they are not significant nor affect the usage of the items.
