Condition: Good condition with no restoration. Both signed Hadley with marks painted and incised to bases, numbered 1292 and 1293, also registration numbers 109821. Height: (entire as shown on main image, taller figure) 13.5" (33.5cm). Width: (at base) 6.25” (16cm). Depth: (at base) 6.25” (16cm). Location: Dublin City, Ireland. Affordable fixed charge Worldwide Store to door shipping offered in house. James Hadley (1837-1903) was an English potter and artist and worked at the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company. Until 1895 his work was produced almost exclusively by Royal Worcester, he later set up his own factory. Described by John Sandon as ‘probably the finest English modeller of all time’. Able to work in any form of style required, he is best known for his decorative figures, made in the 1870s and 1880s, when taste was shifting towards coloured models from the previous fashion for plain white (Parian Ware).
