Description
This is an antique presentation serving tray. An English, silver plated afternoon tea platter, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1895. Prize-winning celebration tray with fascinating detail. Displays a desirable aged patina, with light tarnishing from decades of gentle polishing. Bright, reflective silver plate beams with crisp tonality. Attractive shaped handles adorned with scrolled leaf decoration Engraved upon a diamond lozenge to centre, with pattern border to tray edge. Engraving reads '1st Prize, San Stefano Regatta, 5th September, 1897 - Gwyneth. Further personally engraved to a Stephen Nowill. Maker's marks to rear bear the Nowill name and D* trademark for John Nowill of Sheffield. This is a striking and fascinating antique serving tray, with appealing finish and personalised interest. Delivered polished and ready for afternoon tea.
