Description
This is an antique roll-top desk. An English, mahogany and leather tambour bureau in Aesthetic Period taste, dating to the late Victorian era, circa 1880.
Beautifully appointed desk, perfect for the drawing room that displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order. Select stocks present rich caramel hues and fine grain interest. Fully finished to the rear, suitable for centre room placement.
Quality action to the appealing roll-top tambour, secured by working lock — key present. Opening reveals a suite of skivers, arcading to pigeon holes and small drawers. Skiver pulls out to a comfortable working height of 75.5cm (29.75''). High quality, triple tooled and embossed skivers with inset compartments to the outer pair. In rich blue leather with monogram, the central skiver can be adjusted for angle on a rack.
Bank of small drawers with glorious bird's eye maple fascia, above a faux drawer panel. Set of four drawers set within the apron, two wide over a smaller pair and dressed with brass pendants. Fan shaped apron brackets add a decorative touch to the lower frame. Standing upon a quartet of turned legs and riding upon a set of four brass castors.
This is a superb antique roll-top desk, with a fully featured suite of drawers and skivers. Delightfully presented with fine figuring and colour throughout. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques.
