Description
This antique silver double sovereign coin holder is in good condition, with minimal signs of age and wear. Both interior and exterior are clean with only slight scratching. Hallmarks bear the symbols for sterling silver, the date of 1912 and the ‘anchor’ for Birmingham. There is a loop attached on one side, for attaching to a chain, belt or other. The pattern is really nice, with engine turning and a floral design between. Lid works very well, opens and closes firmly by spring open button to front. Just above this is a small dent, barely visible and with no effect on the overall piece. Each coin spring inside is fully functional. The maker, William Neale, was a renowned silversmith in his day. There is a swirly monogram to the cartouche. A very good functional piece.
