This is an antique smoker's bow. An English, ash and elm elbow or captain's chair, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1900.
Delightful country house appeal with a classic bow form. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select elm shows fine grain interest throughout. Rich chestnut hues beam beneath a wax polish finish.
The upper rail crowned with a generous scroll back and butler's grasp. Eleven desirable spindles rise obliquely supporting the horseshoe armrest in ash. Skilfully formed saddle squab with pronounced seat and Jk monogram to rear. Standing upon stout baluster legs united by a double stretcher rails.
