Antique Solid Gold Locket And 9 ct Necklace

A delightful and ornately engraved solid gold French antique gold locket. This wonderful locket was imported into London and assayed* (tested for gold purity*) at London Assay Office in 1915. The anterior surface is ornamented with ferns, daisy form flowers and a shield cartouche. Ferns symbolise sincerity. Daisies are often associated with innocence, purity and or new beginnings. Shields symbolise the desire to protect. The posterior surface is fitted with the original glass cover which offers protection to anything housed in the deep bodied casing. This locket is hallmarked in multiple areas. This high quality antique is fitted with a hinged back plate which is lined with pristine pale green watered silk. The reverse side of the back plate bears the following inscription: "To Sarah From Will" The hinges and catches work perfectly. The rolo chain necklace measures 20 inches long. This beautiful deep bodied antique solid gold locket is ideal for everyday wear as a pendant or keepsake locket. This locket will accommodate multiple locks of hair, miniature paintings or photographs.
