Description
A fine example of an antique silver inkwell and inkstand. The inkwell is made of cut glass and has a silver collar and hinged lid. It stands on an oval silver tray with four small feet. The tray is engraved "The Worshipful Company of Carpenters. Frederick Sutton J.P." and the lid of the inkwell is engraved "Master 1917-18".
It is a stylish good quality piece and the tray weighs 125g. The tray, collar and lid are each hallmarked for London, 1917. The makers mark is a little bit worn but I believe it is by Horace Woodward & Co Ltd.
The set is in very good condition for its age. The glass is undamaged and there are no major damages to the silver. There are some faint surface marks and a few light scratches and minor dinks on the tray and some small dents and surface scratches below the lid of the inkwell (see photos) but overall it displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.
