This is an antique spoon back elbow chair. An English, walnut ladies parlour armchair, dating to the 19th Century period, circa 1840.
Exceptional chair, with gracious form and beautifully upholstered that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Appealing light walnut stocks present light caramel hues. The whole showcasing the continuation of Regency taste in the early Victorian period.
Broad spoon back adorned with relief carved flowerheads to the crest rail. Cushioned back rest above the traditionally stuffed cushion, set at a height of 41cm (16.25''). Benefits from a professional reupholstering with a Liberty-esque pattern. Blush pink and taupe hues accentuate the eye-catching Art Deco fan pattern.
Seat framed by striking arms with scroll and lobed detail upon serpentine supports. Upholstery trimmed with champagne coloured brocade trim, following the frame edge.
