This is a beautiful early 20th century carpet by the Tetex, Munich carpet manufacturing company with an unusual and rare colour palette dating from around 1920. The carpet is in very soft wool and is in the Agra style. Tetex were renowned for the quality and design of their carpets which were made in the early part of the 20th century, very much between the war years. It is a tufted hand woven carpet and yet has an incredibly soft handle and luxurious feel.
The carpet has a deep terracotta lattice field of flowering plants framed by ice blue spandrels and indigo borders of flowerheads and meandering vines flanked by ivory guard stripes. This is in good order overall with some small areas of light wear as per its age.
The carpet is a very practical size measuring 276cm by 195cm.
