Description
This is an antique townhouse boot scraper. An English, cast iron Great Exhibition doorway shoe pull, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
Gloriously extravagant and substantial - a treat for a grand entrance, displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Robust cast iron presents a good, consistent graphite finish.
Ornate decorative appeal, with leaf and scallop shell decor. Generous width to the scraper of 19cm (7.5''). Pronounced supports acting as boot pulls for further convenience. Drip tray with registered design 'diamond' mark to base.
This is a striking antique townhouse boot scraper, with an enthusiastic, ornate appearance typical of the Great Exhibition era, held at the Crystal Palace in 1851. Perfect for a townhouse or the entrance of a fine country home. Delivered ready to serve.
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques.
