Mid 19th Century (dated 1850) English Victorian antique landscape oil painting on board of rural scene with castle ruins attributed to J Paul dated 1850. Unsigned but artist's name is on plaque - "J Paul - 1850" - so attributed to Joseph Paul (British, 1804-1887). It comes in an elaborate gilt gesso frame. Depicts a rural scene with castle ruins in the background. Note: the auction record for this artist is £10,000 (USD $ 12,694 approx).

condition
Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks and scratches, craquelure and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned.
