Description
Antique Victorian mahogany and veneer book case dresser or sideboard with glazed display case above, made in the 1890s probably, but possibly a few years later. Cupboard base section with two arch panel doors and shelf inside (removable). Top section (which comes off) has two glazed arch panel doors opening onto three adjustable shelves. The corners of the piece are curved, resulting in a fairly impressive curved cornice at the top. There's a working lock and key on the top while the bottom has a bolt inside the left door and, shame to say, a magnet catch on the right. It is what it is. Condition is pretty good for the age: structurally it's sound; cosmetically there are various scuffs and marks etc, mostly to the top of the base, but nothing much really. Some of the arch mouldings have split and been re glued but they're all there, somewhat unusually. Some little chips in the right lower door, and a piece of moulding split off the right side of the top unit, where it sits on the base (see pics).
