This is a gorgeous early Victorian rosewood side table, made in England and dating from around the 1840-1860 period.
It is of extremely fine quality and is a very useful size. The rosewood has a stunning colour tone and wonderful grain patterns, the top has a beautiful pierced brass gallery around the edges. There are two drawers with lovely original green paper lining, the top drawer is a regular shape, the lower drawer has a stunning fabric design on the outside, and dips down into a lovely inverted arch shape. This was originally intended as a work table but it makes a beautiful occasional side table. The base is beautifully carved and sits on brass casters. This is nicely finished on all sides, so can be used as a free standing table.
We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. There is just some minor wear here and there, and a lovely overall patina.
The wood is Santos rosewood, which does not require a Cites or article 10.
