Description
Here we have a very pretty solid silver fruit knife from the late 1800s. It’s a smaller sized fruit knife, perfect for slicing apple or other fruit.
It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present for a Birthday or Anniversary.
It was made by Constantine & Floyd and it was Hallmarked in Sheffield in 1893. The maker’s mark and hallmarks are on one side of the Sterling Silver blade.
The handle is made of beautifully smooth mother of pearl with a very pretty engraved fern pattern on one side and a flower design on the other. It also features a blank shield cartouche.
The blade folds neatly back into the handle with the end protruding a little as many fruit knives were designed to do, to enable easy opening and closing. The silver is shiny with a tiny bit of tarnish.
measurements
It measures 9.5cm in length when fully open (3 3/4 inches). It measures 5.7cm when the blade is folded back into the handle (2 1/4 inches).
