Antique Victorian Turquoise Pendant Necklace / Brooch 18ct Gold Etruscan Revival Design c.1880

We are delighted to offer this magnificent antique Victorian turquoise cabochon cluster pendant necklace made in the Victorian era, c.1880. This exemplary pendant is of Victorian Etruscan revival design and remains in wonderful condition in spite of its age. We are particularly pleased to have acquired this piece in such a preserved state as all turquoise cabochons are very closely matched and have minimal discolouration. Usually, counterpart examples will have a more worn, discoloured or deficient cabochon cluster owing to natural wear over the years, however, this particular pendant has a very crisp and uniform appearance. The central portion is raised as if it is a cabochon itself and is significantly domed, presenting a majestic and mystical appearance upon wearing. The surrounding 18ct gold mount remains very crisp with a 'frosted' etruscan style sheen which has an opulent soft glow upon wearing under natural lighting/sunlight. Each element such as the coiled border, foliate wreath and rope twist edge is a testament to the fine Victorian goldsmithing - it is truly remarkable how intricate and creatively each part has been crafted. The reverse side of the pendant features a glass locket, a pin and a bail so that it may be worn both as a brooch or a pendant; combining the best of both style and versatility for your wardrobe. The pendant has a substantial size and weight in hand which gives a reassuring and tangible quality feeling. A remarkable piece of fine Victorian jewellery whether it be a special gift or for a personal addition.
