Art Deco Butterfly Wing Egyptian Scene Powder Compact c.1920

On offer is this Art Deco circa 1920 powder compact measuring 4cm in diameter. The case is made of gilt metal and lid has wonderful exotic Egyptian scene featuring a man on camel back with The Great Sphinx of Giza and the Pyramids in the background. The picture is mounted over genuine butterfly wing which provides the iridescent colours of the water in the foreground and the back ground and the rug over the camel has sparkling silver foil ground. The picture is reverse printed under a clear celluloid disc protective covering and has ribbed border. The compact has plain metal base with impressed name which I can't make out. This powder compact has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a bevelled glass mirror under the lid. The open powder well in the base is empty. This unique 1920s powder compact is offered in very good condition with a very small ding to the base mentioned for complete accuracy. The metal has no tarnish and the lid has wonderful, bright retained colours and no wear whatsoever. The internal mirror has some clouding but retains a good reflection. Thank you for looking.
