Art Deco Oriental Carved Camphor Wood Chest
This beautiful carved chest is made from camphor wood, for those of you who do not know camphor wood it is a hard wood which lends itself very well to carving. However the main reason for using camphor wood is its fragrance, it smells a bit like Eucalyptus and this most attractive of smells which repels moths hence its common use in the best quality blanket boxes.
The chest is a classic Odeon shape with a dome at the top with carvings of plants and city scenes, the chest is carved on all sides, and the carrying handles are inset.
The chest sits on a stand with carved inward curving legs, it is in good condition and is clean inside.
The chest is 42” long x 26” high and 19” deep
