Franz Xaver Bergman(n) (July 27, 1861 – January 1, 1936) was the most famous manufacturer of the Vienna Bronzes. Vienna Bronzes first emerged in the middle of the 19th century. 40- 50 producers manufactured in Austria, particularly Vienna at the start of the 1900s and began to specialise in the cold painted system. " Dust paints" were layered directly over the bronze giving an extremely lifelike feeling to each piece. Cold painted referred to the pieces being coloured when the pieces were cooling rather than fired. The piece is in good condition with only age related signs of wear. 1900, Bronze, Austrian
