Black Onyx, 0.13ct Diamond & Pearl, 15ct Yellow Gold & Platinum Pendant - Art Deco c.1930

This stunning antique pendant has been crafted in platinum with an 15ct yellow gold setting. The rhombus shaped frame is ornamented with an impressive black onyx panel, four claw set to the reverse. The anterior surface of the onyx panel is embellished with impressive piqué work depicting an Art Deco style potted plant design, including sixteen pavé set Old Dutch cut diamonds. The pot incorporates an arched design and features two fine and impressive seed pearls replicating the pot's feet. The organic design and anterior rim of the pendant are embellished with millegrain decoration. This Mappin & Webb pendant suspends from a hallmarked platinum 18-inch chain, securing with a conventional spring-loaded bolt ring fastening to the reverse. The chain is hallmarked with the maker's mark (St), the platinum guarantee mark (orb), the platinum fineness mark (950) and the common control mark (scales). This antique onyx panel pendant with diamonds is fitted to the impressive original leatherette and cream satin and velvet lined presentation case. The satin interior of the presentation case bears the retailer's mark 'By Appointment, Mappin & Webb Ltd, Oxford Street, London, W'. This antique necklace has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton Xl2 Analyzer) and verified as 15ct gold and platinum.
