Boucheron was the first great jeweller to move to Place Vendome; and can now be found at three addresses in Paris France; 26 Place Vendome – 40 Boulevard Haussmann – 64 Boulevard Haussmann. Boucheron like other great French jewellers, such as Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, Vever, and Chaumet, made their reputation by selling tiaras, corsages brooches and elaborate collars to the rich and famous Parisians. Boucheron moved with the changing times and by the end of the1800s was producing fabulous and highly original pieces using innovative materials – for example, plique-a-jour enamel and gold combined with base metals. After Frédéric Boucheron died in 1902 the business was continued by his son Louis. In 1893 Boucheron opened a shop in Moscow, then in 1907 a shop was founded in London. In 1921, Boucheron was commissioned to make a tiara for Lady Greville which was later given to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Boucheron jewellery exhibits a distinctive style with a strong tendency towards formality, boldness and colour.
