Buren Pocket Watch 1920s Antique Swiss 7 Jewel 10ct Gold Filled Case FWO

(All text, heading, information and photographs within this listing are the intellectual property and copyright of; riversidemaximus23 and has been written by myself - not AI) Antique original Swiss Buren 7 jewel (3 adj, non-magnetic) Gentleman's dress pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial in a highly ornate 10 carat (tested) gold filled (known in the U.K as rolled gold) original Illinois octagonal case. Full working order and has been fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker, guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection. Excellent timekeeper with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in a fairly central position) for any further fine tuning. Dial:- Impressive and distinctive, high gloss, ivory porcelain dial in mint condition - absolutely no hairlines, marks or nibbles. Bold black Arabic numbers (note the lovely little arrow tip to number 4) with black minute markers, bolder triangular 5 minute markers and diamond shaped 15 minute markers to chapter ring. Large sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Finely cut, original blued steel Breguet Moon hands and original blued steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight, unmarked order. Original thick, bevel edge glass (not acrylic) in amazing clear, bright condition with no scratches or 'flea nibbles' and just one extremely tiny little air bubble showing under eyeglass between the 1- 2 position. Case:- The highly ornate (4.3cm diameter / 5.5cm from top of bow to base and a slim 7.5mm depth excluding the glass), 10 carat (tested) gold filled original Illinois octagonal case is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is a very respectable 62.7 grams), robust and in lovely condition - just one small indentation to back cover, two tiny bits of wear again to back cover (pocket wear) and overall light little surface scratches commensurate with age and use in her 100 years service. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. The front bezel and back cover snap on and off correctly, closing with a very reassuring click and both are beautifully adorned with slightly raised, engine turned acanthus leaves with little daisy flowers within. This is again repeated to the case circumference with a very similar decoration. Clearly stamped to the inside of the back cover; Illinois Watch Case Co. Elgin U.S.A (indicating this watch was made for the American market), This Case Guaranteed To Wear 10 Years and has their Trade symbol of Hercules throwing a club to centre. Numbered; 7585816 (which is correctly repeated to the inside front case cuvette) and carries three service marks - one is dated; 30 (1930) and the recent one 4/24 (April 2024) by my long standing watch repairer. Movement:- The stem wound and set Swiss Buren 7 ruby jewelled, 3/4 plate lever movement is in superb bright and clean order (extremely tiny bit of patina to the mainspring and ratchet barrel covers only) and as mentioned above has just been fully checked and serviced. Carries the most wonderful geometric engine turning to the top plates - the detail of which remains as crisp and clear today as the day they were made. Has a solid bi-arm balance wheel with brass balance screws and two brass meantime screws (for precision timing), silver steel hairspring (which is true, in the round and 'breathing' well), ruby end stone and pallet jewels, attractive 'swirl' engine turning to the mainspring and ratchet barrel covers and highly polished steel case screws. Clearly stamped on the top plates in fancy arched pale gold script; Buren W.Co. Imperial 7 Jewels 3 Adjmts (three adjustments), Non Magnetic and stamped in arched script to the bottom plate (side of the balance assembly); Swiss Made. Numbered to the bottom plate (under the dial); 2443343. Balance action is tremendous in all positions with a sure, strong positive action - runs like a train. Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!) Hand set operates smoothly and correctly. Original slightly worn gold filled flat topped 'onion' crown. Good original gold filled, engine turned scrolled horseshoe shaped bow. Appraisal:- A Gentleman's very handsome Swiss timepiece - she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations! Ready to wear or display.
