This is a late George IV / early William IV burr walnut display table/bijouterie table. The oval top is divided into two D shaped glazed doors, which open and are held in place with a brass locking arm. The inside is lined in felt and the frames are mahogany. Both compartments are lockable. Beneath the top, is a burr walnut apron with an unusual carved and stained gesso beading on the top and bottom. All standing on stylish trestle ends. At each end is an upright with a Corinthian capital on top, over a fluted tapering column and acanthus leaves at the bottom. There is a turned bulbous cross stretcher uniting the elongated rounded burr walnut ends, which stand on brass castors.
This is an unusual display table which would be ideal for showing collections or for a shop.
